Greece did not fall to communism. But it fell to something far worse, a military dictatorship.

When the political scene was very unstable in greece, USA installed a military dictatorship in Greece to prevent the possibility of Greece falling to communism.

Of course most people agree that this was far worse than communism because people lost all freedoms and worst of all, turkey invaded the Island of Cyprus occupying half of it without any practical resistance.

Thanks to hundreds of students that lost their life making a resistance against the military dictatorship, Greece, the country that invented democracy is now democratic again. Shame on USA for supporting dictatorship.

No. Greece had a civil war that the right wing won with the help of UK and US. Both in Turkey and Greece there were strong anti-left governments. If the givernements were weak the US would instruct the militaries to take over. Greece had a dictatorhip form 67 to 74. Turkey had several coups but the military has always controled the government.

Turkey is tough to answer, much of the govermnet was pro-communist anyway. Greece, theyhave been in civil strife since the end of World War II over this. Sections of Greece are still unsafe to this day over the battle between communism and democracy.
