First to answer you properly,i must ask at what level education are you asking, for a entire year to school your child at primary level it would cost you, books, cloth, shoes, transport, living area, bills, food, and plus other necessities, would cost you approx,
US$3500.00.
Why well unlike the US Jamaica has a very high inflation rate,Oil drives the prices of goods and services in to the roof. interest rates are also another killer,so make sure if you borrowing,do it within your limits.
The average university student who have to borrow to go to Universities end up sometime paying Millions.
For, eg;University price for education are in the hundreds of thousands, and remember, interest rates are not single digits there, plus you have to factor in so many other things.
But there is hope,if you have family or friends, some of these possibilities can be eliminated.
Jamaica land of wood and water is beautiful, but when it comes to money, its a whole different story.
But it all depends on were you are going to stay also,in terms of housing and land prices,so find the best rout that is affordable, for you.
As cost of living can run you in the Hundreds of thousands of Jamaican currency if you not careful.
So take my foolish advice and start making plans to invest and have a back up plan, for the unexpected, keep and eye on the economy also,as this will help to give you valuable decision making info.

and Oh before i forget the Jd$ trades at 65 to the US,interest rates are slowly creeping down but have a far way to go,inflation interms of monthly reports are looking to be the best in years accordingto the Business observer and the Jamaica Gleaner Business article, but are not yet single digit figure.Energy prices are still High, and may go higher depending on what happens beyond Jamaicas shore,so as i said keep and eye on theJamaican Economy.
