There are a couple of different routes that you can take to become a pilot. If you want to eventually work for an airline you must have a four year degree, so a lot of people attend colleges or universities that have an aviation program. Embry-Riddle, University of North Dakota, and Daniel Webster College are a few that are out there. If you want to just be a recreational pilot you can just go to your local flight school and meet with an instructor and they will tell you everything you need to know. http://www.beapilot.com/ is a great website that has tons of information about learning to fly!

The process is pretty long, and requires extensive classroom learning as well as flying with an instructor. You will also have to complete a solo before you can be certified.
