Personally, I'd go for Wake me Up When September ends - Green Day. This is because it sorta tells a story and it's just so moving. I dunno.

I agree, but I also think that "The Saints Are Coming" U2/ Green Day makes some good points visually about the apathy of the US government toward the Katrina situation.

Land of Confusion by Genesis is a great one. I really like Sabotage by the Beastie Boys if you'll count that as rock. I think my favorite though is "One" by Metallica. It is simple but when I was little it scared me. Plus the song is great.
