Don't skip it. Employers will think you were in Jail for 6 years.
Honesty is always the best policy. Put something in there. Put down that you were taking a break or discovering yourself or something. No blanks.

You gave the answer - you have been in school. State that in the job section. Employers should realise that. If there is room after you have put 'school', putn the following. If not, find somewhere to put this. However, you could, since so many people still have part-time jobs while in school, state something along the lines of "I felt it more useful to concentrate on my education than take outside work. However, I have done..." and add in ANY community, volunteer, etc stuff you might have done. If you were care-giver for a family member, mention that as well. But - keep it brief.
Good Luck!

The best method to skip the work experience section from the resume is to write a functional resume. In a functional resume the work experience heading is optional so you have to choose between writing it or not deciding if it advantages you or not.

Have you done any volunteer work? Housewifely is considered work, anything to do with you church is considered work, anything that you have done in the six years that has enhanced your life can be considered work. Usually your guidance counselor can guide you with that part of your resume

You show what experience you do have - being a student mimics a lot of job duties, so list what you HAVE been doing in that time.

Most companies want to know what you have been doing with your time, whether it has been work, school, homemaking, volunteer work, etc., You always want to be truthful. Sometimes it is all in the wording.

don't try to hide it--you will appear to be dishonest and have something bad to hide.
