Some scientists have been starting to make computer programed virtual human beings. these will be able to,if cut, bleed and reproduce new cells and shed old ones. they will be almost exact copies of humans and could be useful instead of vivisection(which i believe is wrong!) to test new drugs on. their bodies should work like ours BUT this means the brain will have to work like ours and sinse it is computer programed it could out smart the person who is controlling it and over power them! so is a virtual human a good idea or not?

It does not matter if it is a good idea or not... This has always been a fascination of people for a very very long time, creating robots or artificial intelligence that can replace a human's thinking capability... And, it has also been a fear of people too...

But either way, it is inevitable... Eventually that point will be reached... It is already possible to biologically create human beings (test tube babies, clones, etc.), and it will eventually be reached to where artificial intelligence will be strong enough to either replace humans, or rebel for their independance...

But who knows, maybe my great great great great granddaughter will be dating a virtual Bradd Pitt in the future...

...and people thought Battlestar Galactica's cylons were but fiction...

Funny, but your premise runs right into that fictional story or even The Matrix, and I've no doubt you could be right that this concept is not a good one.

I'm sure Christian folk will have issues with the morality side of it as we, in essence, would become Gods to these beings...creators, if you will. On the flip side, though, what happens when we do get out smarted by our creations and they get tired of doing our bidding?

Another thought...and this comes up both in Galactica and in I, Robot...what happens when we build these creatures and implement a program that they can only protect mankind? Then, as that programming expands we discover they decide the best way to protect us is to take control.

All sounds like it should be sci/fi, but funny how things come into reality that we have only dreamt of.
