Can someone give me a laymans explanation of how teams are picked for a bowl game? Specifically why does Louisville owe WV b/c WV beat Rutgers when Louisville lost to Rutgers and beat WV?? Also why have Louisville play Wake Forrest when WF sucks (sorry fans) and a closer rated team would make for a better game? Lastly why all the Louisville haters out there?

Your question is why they should have a playoff, so here goes.

Louisville beat WVU and lost to Rutgers.

WVU beat Rutgers and lost to Louisville and South Florida

Rutgers beat Louisville and lost to WVU and Cinncinnatti.

Louisville has the best record.

If Rutgers would have beat WVU then Rutgers would go to the BCS game because the BIG EAST has a head to head rule. (IF both top teams have the same record, the team who beat the other in the regular season would go to the BCS game.)

Even more interesting. IF WVU would not have lost to South Florida, and Rutgers would not have lost to Cinncinnatti, we would have a three way tie for the Big EAST. The rule in the Big East is, during a 3 way tie, the team with the highest BCS average goes to the BCS game, which would have been WVU because the would still be number 3 or 4 with one loss to Louisville.

Louisville plays Wake because the Big East and the ACC have a deal with the bowl in question to send their two champs there this year. That is the only reason. You are right, #1 should face #2, #3 face #4, #5 face #6, and so on. But that would just make sense.

People hate on Louisville, WVU, and Rutgers because their favorite teams, ie Auburn, Florida State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Texas, and the rest of the bandwagon parade are all OVER RATED. They just cant accept the fact that the Big East is revamped, they have great coaches and great teams. Not only will the fans not accept it, but the big "traditional" schools will not put them on their schedule. Lets talk about cake seasons anyways, Michigan, Texas, and the rest play considerably weak schedules except for their 1 or 2 big games, which they lost. You will see Michigan play Western Michigan, but God forbid WVU or Louisville. Same thing with Texas and Florida and Auburn.

Hope this helps

Going into the last weekend of Big East play, Louisville was 6-1, Rutgers was 6-1, and West Virginia was 5-2 in conference. Louisville had beaten West Virginia, Rutgers had beaten Louisville but lost to Cincinnati, and West Virginia had lost to South Florida. With Louisville's win over Connecticut, Rutgers still would have won the Big East title by beating West Virginia, since both they and Louisville would have been 7-1, but the Scarlet Knights would have gotten the title from the head-to-head win. When WVU beat Rutgers, it gave Louisville the title outright.

And they're playing Wake Forest because the Demon Deacons won the ACC.

Everybody hates on Louisville, Rutgers, Boise State and teams like that because they don't play anybody!!! Put Louisville in the SEC and they would be 6-6 or 7-5 at best!!! Rutgers would have a losing record, and Bosie State would probably lose every conference game!!!! The BCS is a joke!!!!

The NCAA has no "professional" champion for Div.-a million soccer. The BCS Bowl Championship Series was once devised by way of the bowls for one motive: to defend their lifestyles. With public outcry clamoring for a playoff, the bowls received in combination to variety the BCS. Their rational is if they may be able to fit-up #a million vs. #two each and every yr, the general public will likely be joyful with that, and they may be able to continue to exist for a couple of extra years, at the same time they work out an extra method to outlive. That being stated. Before the season kicks off, it's the target of each and every foremost tuition workforce to win the BCS Championship, so I bet that makes the winner the de-facto "professional" champion.

First, being an ACC fan, WF does not suck. The Big East is overrated and you will see come bowl time. People hate Louisville b/c they are OVERRATED (good system, players aren't that special).

A lot of the bowl games are based on where you finish in your conferance. (ex. No. 5 ACC team vs. No. 5 SEC team).

It does not make any sense. That is why we need to get rid of the BCS system. A group of fans have launched a campaign to sack the BCS once and for all. We have started a petition to pressure the NCAA to finally get rid of the BCS mess. You can view the petition here: http://ga4.org/campaign/sackthebcs

A majority of the coaches, sports writers and fans agree that something needs to be done. This campaign is designed to turn the heat up on the NCAA so that they take our concerns seriously.

It is all about money, it always will be. The reason the BCS will not go to a playoff format is money. The matchups are based on which fans will travel to the games. They want schools who's fans will fill the seats. That is why Notre Dame always get a BCS game, there fans will travel anywhere.
