That is hilarious but so true. I think it is fun to talk to older people because my generation has really lost the art of speaking as well as them. Everything is abbreviated and we have so much slang these days...but I guess it is a sign of the times.

Yes, that is true. You can't see any youngsters these days NOT using the word "like." However, remember that there are a few people, such as myself, who don't use it all the time. It's just a proper grammatical use that I have become accustomed to during my younger years of reading the dictionary, which is basically my personal bible, the encyclopedia, which would be the random information that I come upon...
My spelling sucks, and I'm only 22.

Yes ... that and the gentlemen (true, in every sense of the word) never swore in front of a lady. Now-a-days, it seems a lot of males (and some females) can't seem to complete a sentence, w/o using the F word numerous times. It doesn't even bother them if there's a child in the room either. Gawd, this world's going to the dogs ....

I do like the manner in which senior citizens talk. Obviously, they were born & raised when the social mores & ethics of society rang a different sounding tune...so, I as you ; do enjoy conversation with the elderly.

Yes & especially southern elderly people, as their draw is inviting to a conversation. Also, they are good story tellers, it's their way of describing things.
