Ok if your doctor doesn't have any concerns then this is what you do. Avoid hot showers and baths, they dry out the skin. Try not to use scented soaps, find a mild one and make sure you wash it off well and pat dry. Find an unscented moisturiser and lather it on. One with natural Aloe vera extract can really cool down your skin and fade the itching. Don't go out in the sun and wear loose cotton clothing.
If you can find an oatmeal bath preperation in your drugstore then have a warm bath with that.
Good luck!

It's your skin stretching. They say the baby does it's most growing in the last trimester. You say nothing is helping which makes you feel even more desperate. I was like that during my first pregnancy. Right now i'm using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula for dry itchy skin. It's a soothing oil that you spray on then rub in. It dries quickly just make sure it's completely dry before putting clothes on and don't wear any shirts that are tight fitting, this will make your belly itch even more. Try it, may help a lot.
Wear loose cotton tee's.

That is so normal. Dry skin is the worst when pregnant its like the baby is sucking the moisture right out of you. You can try them oatmeal baths that you can by at any store you just mix it with running water and it soothes your skin. Or ask your doctor he might prescribe a thicker more effective lotion. Hopes this helps.

It's completely normal.
And completely nerve racking!
It's the worst isn't it ?!
You can try various lotions. They say the oatmeal based ones are best. I found that Palmer's Unscented Cocoa Butter worked best for me. (And it didn't leave me greased up like the Thanksgiving turkey!) They usually tell you to try the oatmeal baths too. (Yuck!) That didn't work for me either.
If you can't get any relief, call the nurse. You might could try over the counter hydro-cortisone cream. You might need something stronger. They may have something they can prescribe.
Hope you get relief soon!

You should really mention it to your doctor. I have seen in two different pregnancy references that if you feel itchy all over it could be a sign of some other problem. Like a symptom of having too much of a certain toxin in your blood. It might not be anything, but I would definately mention it at your next appointment.

Your skin is stretching and that causes it to itch. I would suggest taking shorter showers and as soon as you get out before you dry off put some baby oil on. Theres a cheap but really good lotion at Walmart it's by Queen and it's cocoa butter. It's a really big bottle and it'll cost around $1.97.

Awful, isnt it? It's normal and most women go through it...lotions helped me somewhat...try a very thick hydrating one...hang in there...in about 11 weeks you'll wish it were only itchy skin that kept you awake all night...

AAAHHH!!!! DON"T SCRATCH!!! ALL THAT IS IS YOUR SKIN STRETCHING!! i JUST HAD A BABY..MY FIRST PREG. I SCRATCHED AND 2 WEEKS LATER THE PURPLE STRETCH MARKS APPEARED. last PREG I USED THE STUFF FROM MOTHERHOOD MATERNITY(BODY OIL) AND PALMER'S COCOA BUTTER FOR PREGNANT WOMEN!! PUT OVER YOUR ENTIRE BODY. DON'T USE ANYTHING WITH PERFUME IN IT AND B CAREFUL ABOUT HOW MUCH WASHING POWDER U WASH WITH. THIS WILL HELP I PROMISE... BUT THE COCOA BUTTER WILL ALSO HELP YOU SKIN B MORE ELASTIC WHICH MEANS IT WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL AFTER YOU HAVE THE BABY.

I know that its normal but I'm not sure what causes it. Call your local drug store and ask what you can take for itching while pregnant!
