Hi.

Assuming you run windows, do not let it connect directly to the Internet. Use a router or a small computer running Linux. Also do not blindly open attachments and browse using either Internet Explorer 7 (but ask a friend to configure it securely - on win2k3 it's pretty safe but on other windows it's just inviting people to your pc) or Firefox.

Using these guidelines I've never had a virus or trojan infect my computers and I do browse porn sites.

P.s. and I don't run resource eating antivirus software or need a firewall (because of the router).

unfortunately my friend, yes it is possible, and its a fact of life when using the internet, there are idiots out there who make it there lifes work to xxxx up our computers, sad or what
my advice mate is install a good anti-virus,and you dont even have to spend any money,i use avast 4.7(http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html) and this has kept my pc pretty well virus free, but the name of the game is making sure any security software is kept up-to-date as new strains of virus are being discovered every day
a very good anti-virus program if you dont mind spending a few quid is f-secure anti-virus(http://esd.element5.com/demoreg.html?productid=300108641&languageid=1),this is a evaluation and if you want to buy a years subscription, its around £30 but well worth the money,it scans for viruses, worms, rootkits, and of course spyware...10/10
f-secure will defenitely keep your p.c secure and clean,i use it on my second p.c and its solid,it uses a internet explorer sheild which even stops you changing your homepage,it stops..browser hijacks, active x installation, and will stop any unauthorised installaion of software
good luck

Why wouldn't it be possible. Don't open attachments without scanning it first.
