The epiglottis is located posterior (in back of) to the tongue, in the oropharynx, superior (above) to the larynx. It is not visible by just looking into the mouth.

Its pretty much a spoon shaped flap in your throat that covers you trachea when you drink and eat to keep you from choking.

And to the person above me you are wrong that is the uvula, it prevents food from entering the nasal sinuses.
