Ang Huling Elbimbo - a music video from a filipino band. It won 1997 best music video award in new york because of its story. Check it out in you tube. Most of you will not appreciate it because the video is not in english, still it didn't stop it from recieving awards and praises from critics worldwide.
Here is the story behind it:
The first and second verse is about the singer narrating the days as a boy that would frequently visit his childhood friend, a girl about his age, by hanging around in her huge house after school. The girl has a knack and talent for dancing to the beat of a song, but does the best especially when she dances the "El Bimbo" (a hispanic dance number), which amuses the young boy of course.
So on, the boy eventually wants to learn how to dance the "El Bimbo" and so every afternoon, he would go to the girl's house and the girl would teach him the moves. At first, the boy would be stiff and nervous when practicing the moves, but throughout the days, he began to improved and got used to it. Aside from that, he and the girl's friendship becomes more closer and rather mutual, in the process of becoming more than just mere friends. When the girl's mom heard about this, she got so infuriated, that, she took the girl away from the singer and she and her mother moves out of the house, leaving the boy lonely for years to come...
The third verse goes fast-forward into the present. The boy (the singer), who has never seen the girl ever since, has grown up. He heard that the girl, who has also grown up, has a child whose biological father ditched the girl and the baby. The girl (who now is broke) has a daily job washing dishes and utensils in a certain eatery in Ermita made for the poor customers. Then one night, while going back home after finishing her shift, she gets ran over by a certain vehicle (possibly a big truck driven by a drunk person) in a dark alley.
After hearing the news about her untimely death, the singer becomes depressed. Now whenever he wants to dance with her again is only a fantasy more than mere dream.
