There are different types of cups for different ages! I think the lowest there is out there is 6 months at that's when you can start your infant on water and apple juice and then gradually switch cups and give more liquids they can digest!

I started putting a sippy cup on my daughter's high chair at around 5 1/2 months... just so that she would reach for it and get a feel for holding it. I started putting juice in it at 6 months and giving her little sips but still holding it for her, I did that for a few weeks and then let her start trying it on her own once she understood how it worked a little more and now at 9 months, she's a pro. Always use your own judgement though, you'll know when your baby is ready.

My children started on a sippy cup at 10 months, just so they could get use to it, I put formula in the sippy and let them carry it around, they also continued to get a bottle. By the time they were a year old they knew how to use the sippy and were off the bottle in the day time.

I started my daughter around 5 months. She did great and transistioned from bottle to sippy at a year old. Now she's taking most fluids from a cup with a lid and straw and we only use sippys for morning milk and when we're out. She's 18 months old

"When should I introduce a sippy cup?

Some babies enjoy a sippy as early as 5 or 6 months, and others aren't interested until after their first birthdays. Most babies seem ready around 7 to 9 months, though."

I started all of my kids around the 6-7 months range. Usually when they could sit up by themselves and hold the cup pretty well. And I only let them have juice or watered down Sprite in the cup. My youngest will not use the cup with handles on both sides. I have to give him the same cup his2.5yr old brother uses!

It's safe to start them at any age really. My kids never had a bottle. I breastfed then when they needed juice or water, around 4 months i started them on a soft spout sippy cup without any problems. its never too early to start using sippys. Then you can just gradually move on to a harder spout sippy cup.

Start at 6 months. I gave my son one at 4 months empty just to play with. That way he would get use to holding one. Now he is 6 months. He still hasn't mastered it yet but sometimes it just takes time.
