I was in front of an ambulance the other day, and I noticed that the word "ambulance" was spelled in reverse print on the hood of the ambulance. And I thought, "Well, isn't that clever." I look in the rear-view mirror, I can read the word "ambulance" behind me. Of course while you're reading, you don't see where you're going, you crash, you need an ambulance. I think they're trying to drum up some business on the way back from lunch.

It's so if they hit you 'cuz you didn't get out of the way quick enough, you can't sue them and say,
"Well yes I saw falshing lights, but I didn't know it was an ambulance. There's no written warning or sign visible that tells those lights belong to an ambulance. I thought it was an over-zealous Christmas fanatic who's sadly colorblind and used blue instead of green lights."
it's for the ignorant.

Of course there's the flashing light and the siren and the other motorists getting the heck out of the way to clue you in...perhaps the sign is for the deaf!

If the word were not reversed it would certainly take much longer to try to figure out what it says. It would be much more likely to cause an accident, don't you think?
