I believe that most US citizens of America are very happy and proud of being "Americans" and of having the freedom to gripe and complain when things don't go to suit them. USA is a homogeneous melange of people from all of the world who enjoy freedoms that the rest of the world envies. Rarely does one hear of one who leaves this wonderful nation for a new life in another country.
Many of us would be happy to see the US grow larger with the expansion (voluntary, of course) of the wonderful country north of us (Canada) and south of us with Mexico. It won't happen in my lifetime but I wish it would. As far as what to call it, I would not care as long as freedom of religion, speech, and ability to travel, assemble, vote, work were not infringed upon by government.

I think that it is not the USA we are not happy with, it is the people within the USA we are not happy with.
People seem to have lost the concept of what the USA is all about. The generation growing up today has lost respect for others. We no longer work hard, we have become a lazy society and accept the status quo and mediocrity as the standard.
Our Government leaders don't work for the good of the people, they seem to work for the good of whatever/whoever gets them ahead....
I could go on but I'll stop. Of course there are exceptions to what I have said, but the large majority seems to be taking the USA right down the toilet.

1. Insidious and draconian drug laws & overcrowding of non-violent offenders in prison vs treatment options.
2. A president we didn't elect.
3. A second Vietnam war started by the "president" that is now causing more anti-american sentiment and escalating terrorism more than ever.
4. An upside-down healthcare system. (40,000,000 americans without healthcare.)
5. The escalation of the wealth gap. Poor getting poorer, richer getting richer, making it harder and harder to make a living wage in this country.
6. Need I go on? There is plenty more.

Because there is not a lot of good paying jobs, too many poor people (in this country there shouldn't be any poor people!) and the military sucks, if you join you basically have no rights, also the fact that we always got be at war with someone, and innocent young men and women with families are dieing because we always want to stick our nose in some other country where we don't belong!
Oh yeah and the fact that it doesn't matter who we vote for, they put whoever they want in!

I love this country, and I believe most Americans do also.
I just liked it a whole lot better before murder was legalized, before I was afraid to walk around outside at night, before we got invaded by illegal immigrants, and when we could defend our country without protest from the same people we are defending!
You see, these are the people I am talking about. Not one person here knows a thing about war, but yet they all claim to know more about it than our President. If we send the troops home, I hope you all get bombed next.

We're not unhappy with the country, we're unhappy with the government. The purpose of a government is to serve the people, not make the people serve the government, and that has been the trend since Bush was elected. They strip us of our rights and damn us for dissenting. We are merely toys for the conservatives to play with, because they think they are the right hand of God.
