The arctic winters have been known to turn bitterly cold for long stretches. In some rare cases, the extended cold will freeze the ice pack so thick that the Eskimos (rednecks of the great white north) cannot hunt or fish.

When this happens, the Eskimos face life-threatening situations. Scientists have been baffled by the discovery that Eskimos will die of starvation instead of eating penguin eggs to stay alive.

Blonde.. Eskimo is the acceptable term. If you called a Yupik eskimo an Inuit you would probably be killed on the spot.

I'm pretty sure you know the answer to this, so I won't spoil the answer for others just yet, but i'll give a hint. Where do you find penguins? Where do you find Inuits?

PS: never mind the answer. I think the answer just above me should get best. Also, will whoever thinks it's funny to give everyone a thumbs down, cut it out. The answer is that while "Eskimos" live in the arctic, penguins live in the antarctic, by the south pole, and half a world away from the Eskimos.

The scientists havent been able to figure out that there are no penguins where Eskimos live? I find that very hard to beleive...

Penguins travel to the South Pole to mate and give birth to their young. The trek that they go on would be nearly impossible for man to survive, with temps at -40* and winds at 70-100mph.

Eskimos live in Alaska and the Arctic.

For heaven's sake

Polar Bears and Eskimos live in the Arctic - that's by the North Pole.

Penguins live in the southern hemisphere, nearer to the South Pole.

Unless the eskimoes travel for thousands of miles they'd have trouble catching penguins.

Because penguins don't live where Eskimos live...is this a trick question?
Eskimos live above the Arctic Circle...while penguins live in the Antarctic. (Although some species of penguins do live as far north as the tip of South America....but still well south of the Eskimos' stomping grounds.)

If there were penguins anywhere within ten thousand miles of where the Eskimos lived, I'm sure Eskimos would be eating penguin egg omelets.

Though I never expected such a question, but anyways this is because Eskimos live in the arctic region while penguins are found in the antarctic region.

Don't be a muppet. Penguins live at the SOUTH POLE!!!

Anyway the correct word for the people you are talking about is Inuit. Eskimo is not a polite or acceptable term.

If you are an eskimo and cant survive in your enviroment and you are only left with the option of a penguin egg, then I am sure they feel they ashamed and would rather die.

Plus baby penguins are pretty cute.
