I would keep a food journal. I would avoid anything white (sugar, flour, rice) & start eliminating one thing @ a time.
I would eat good nutritious foods, organic when you can. I would start an exercise program preferably with a friend, then you could support each other. I would go for a check up with your pediatrician and make sure everything is alright with your body, especially your Thyroid.

You need to eat healthier.
Put healthier foods on the lower shelves and in the front. Put the less healthy foods where it is more difficult to reach them.
Know this word. Trans fat -- Lots of foods, like cakes, cookies, crackers and pies, and some fast foods, are made with something called trans fat. Trans fat is used because it can make food taste better to some people and can make foods last longer. But it clogs up your heart and increases your risk for getting heart disease and stroke.
When you clean out your pantry or buy food, read the nutrition facts label (it tells you how much trans fat is in the food!) and even if the label says zero, if in the ingredient list it says "partially hydrogenated," there is still a little bit in there. Make sure that the food you eat has no more than 2 grams of saturated fat - the nutrition facts label will tell you this too.

If you follow this you will start to loose weight.
good luck :]

Hmmm, I was pretty heavy when I was 14 too. I finally figured out that I was eating too much of the wrong kinds of food. Also, my family always overate, so this was "normal" for me without even realizing it.

Just don't do things that you know are not good for you, but try eating healthy and getting a little more exercise. If you really feel like you have done everything within your power, then talk you your mom about getting some tests done to see if you have a thyroid problem or see about some nutritional counseling. Good Luck, and don't be discouraged.....

we don't measure weight by age. We do it by height and body shape. First off how tall are you? secondly At 14 it's good to be aware of your health but not so self-conscious. Try to get in more fitness activities, walk everywhere you can, get into running, maybe take a dance class. Also try to limit the amount of sugar, saturated fat, processed food, and such. Try loading up on fruits and veggies through out the day without concern about the calories of it, and limit your meat portions to 3 meals a week, also cut back on dairy to 3 meals a week. It's a good way to cut down 10 extra pounds. Also note fruit juices and sodas will add 40lbs to your weight over the course of a year so drink water and lots of it .

First of all don't listen to those who say eat less! What you do need to do is eat healthy. When you feel the need for a snack, reach for fruits and healthier things instead of candy and junk food like chips and snack cakes. Try to work out an exercise routine that is right for you. Start slower at first then move up. You might try 30 minutes wait awhile and then another 30. Always ask your doctor before and he or she will help you decide what is best for you. Always keep in mind though that you do this for YOU not anyone else. YOUR BEAUTIFUL BABY!!!!!! Good Luck to you.

You don't say how tall you are. But I will offer a few suggestions.

1)Avoid fast food (such as McDonald's) and most fried food. Those are loaded with grease and fat.
2)Avoid most junk food: Those are empty calories, and are also loaded with fat.
3)Try to eat more whole grain breads. Those will have fiber (which is good for you) and are really quite tasty!
4)Try to keep a supply of fresh fruit and vegetables to snack on. Remember to wash them thoroughly though, in light of the e. coli scare.
5)Exercise. No diet will really work without exercise. Walking is a good one, and requires no special equipment.
6)If you can't stick to it alone, don't beat yourself for it: Get a friend to work out with you. Sometimes that's the best motivation of all!

Good luck!

JESS...LOOK at labels on food products---choose more protein and less carbohydrate...especially sugars--like sucrose, dextrose, etc. look at total carbs & carbs from sugar...basically choose those which are lower numerically...stop drinking softdrinks that are loaded with sugar..the more sugar products you eat the hungrier you will be...walking , swimming, or even in place exercising or dancing while listening to music helps greatly...even only 20 minutes a day,extra-- works magically for you ! THE AMAZING THING IS TO ,JUST DO IT ! IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LEARN ABOUT HOW CARBS AFFECT YOUR WEIGHT...INVESTIGATE "THE GLYCEMIC INDEX " A CANADIAN COMPARISON ON FOODS FROM A CARB PERSPECTIVE..david

Don't worry about what the scale says. You need to go by how you feel and how your clothes look on you. IF they are getting tight it's time to cut back on th junk food and increase your exercise. You really need to focus on eating nutritious food and being active, not dieting. If you do, you will notice a big difference in time. Stay off those scales!!!!

Keep trying to eat right and excercise...but remember this...it matters more the heart of a man, more than the reflection he sees in the mirror. Make sure that every day you wake up you keep your heart and attitude up...I dated several girls in high school simply because they were more than the makeup they wore and the car they drove...I liked girls who had a personality and some sort of a life.

You didn't say how tall you were but if you really want to loose some weight your best bet is to see the doc and let him help you set up a good weight loss program for you. The doc can refer you to a dietician who can help you figure this all out.
