Can you think of another word everybody would recognise? Christmas may be a religious holiday but it is also a generic word used to denote the winter holiday. Perhaps, since the alleged Christ could not possibly have been born in December we should be celebrating the winter solstice instead?

I suppose that if Christmas is to only be exclusive to Christians it would only stand to reason that Jesus and God and the belief in them should go no further. If you were to stop the faith that comes from this holiday, that in it's own way, has the ability to lead those non-believers to an understanding and belief in God and in Jesus, why should we not do so?!?
Do you realize how ridiculous your question really is?
Even if a person does not believe in God or Jesus, why is it that you believe the word Christmas is exclusive to Christianity? Because the word 'Christmas' comes from the name 'Jesus'? When someone is a non believer you forget that they don't automatically assume the word Christmas is used in a Christian context. Why do you? You do, because of your belief, but because some do not believe they do not see it as a Christian holiday alone!
Some people believe that it a celebration of the year gone past and the awakening of a new year. They exchange gifts as a love and thankfullness to others for their belief and love in them throughout the year. It is a time to share with the people around them and a time be greatful for their families and friends.
Christmas is not exclusive to one belief and not another regaurdless of the absents of belief!
If you are a true Christian wouldn't you want a non believer to continue celebrating Christmas because of the possiblity that they might convert? If you are a non-believer, Christmas for some non-believers is not a realigious holiday, but a family holiday!
Have a Good Day!
Blessed Be

Many of them use Xmas, but it's more of a tradition, they see "Christmas" as a giving holiday with presents, trees, Santa, and snowmen. Not Christ. They use the name b/c of the tradition, I don't though. Jesus rocks!

Well, Christmas is Christmas no matter how you put it. Just because a person is non-christian doesn't make the actual holiday any different. As far as non-christians calling their holiday something different...they do. Jewish people call theirs Hanakuh. I call mine Yule. You get the picture.

Why? After all its not the name that counts but the spirit by witch you celebrate it. So whats wrong with them using Christmas? Are you a pagan? Should you change the days of the weeks as they are named after Greek Gods?

there are no such thing as non- Christians we are all christians due to the fact that the lord created us, he gives every person a choice to believe or not believe. So we are all christians some just choose to believe that god does not exist, and for that they will burn in hell. So I guess my answer is it is such a trival matter compared to what really matters which is the everlasting life promised by Jesus Christ let them call it what they want.
