I remember that when I bought it, it didn't smoke this much.

The most common ailment on modern diesels that causes a lot of black smoke is a plugged up air cleaner. If it is turbocharged, the turbo may not be putting out enough boost. The least likely is, somebody turned up the fuel pump.

Put some fuel treatment with the fuel, and don't buy the cheapest fuel. That's for starters, you may have other problems.

You have a fuel injector problem..
Too much fuel being injected...

If it's getting worse then it's sick. Take it to a pro for a tune up.
