I have an office Christmas party to go to, and I'm really clueless about what to wear! It's my boyfriend's company, and the party is being held at a "restaurant and tavern". Originally I thought it would be kind of casual since it was a tavern, but I looked at the website and oh my goodness, the place is much more formal than I expected, and I'm wondering what I can get away with wearing...
Do you guys think it would be at all appropriate if I wore extremely dressy jeans? (citizens of humanity, dark colored, bootcut) I have a chocolate brown silk top that I really really want to wear, but I don't have any dress pants that would go with it.
This party is at 6pm, so it will be dark out and probably pretty dim in the restaurant, do you think people will be like "whoa she's wearing jeans" or not?
If I shouldn't wear the jeans, I'll wear dark gray dress pants with an ivory silk camisole and matching ivory cashmere cardigan with rhinestone buttons.
Thanks so much for reading all of this!!

I would definitely wear the dress pants. Jeans, no matter how "dressy" they are, are still just jeans. Jeans can't get dressy. So your other outfit sounds really pretty- I'd wear that, with earrings that match the rhinestone buttons! It would be way better to come and find you're too dressed up than to be embarassed because you're the only one in jeans. Better safe than sorry is my motto!

Follow your gut instincts, you aren't sure about the denim so don't wear them. If you really want to wear your brown silk top get different bottoms to match. I know your dilemma and it's unfortunately always better to be overly dressy rather than casual. But one way that you can wear the jeans is if he works in an extremely casual office. If that's the case, probably most people attending the party will also be wearing jeans regardless of the location. Hope this helps.

It sounds like you have really nice taste in clothes. People won't "whoaaa" anything. They'll just quietly categorize you and you'll be typecast. Take your cues from what your boyfriend wears, his position and where he wants to go in the future. If he's blue-collar and wants to stay that way, wear the jeans. If he's in sales or on the rise in the front office, wear a skirt or dress pants. Obviously, if his idea of dressing up is a leather Harley vest and cowboy boots, you can go with your jeans.

I'd go with the dress pants - it's is better to be over dressed than under dressed....and your boyfriend will probably want to show you off to his coworkers, so go with the dress pants and look cute

First impressions mean a lot. Ask your boyfriend what he thinks. He will know what the appropriate attire is.

If in doubt, dress nicer.

I think something dressier than the jeans, a black skirt or slacks with your blouse sounds good
