"Crap" is actually a euphemism. A euphemism is when you substitute a mild, indirect, or vague term for a term that is considered harsh, blunt, or offensive. Therefore, while some people may consider crap a cuss word, it is supposed to be less offensive.
I use euphemisms often in my speech. However, I probably shouldn't since I am really just expressing my anger in "pretty" words such as Crap!, Oh Sugar!, and Gosh!. (Crap = sh**; Oh Sugar = oh sh**; and Gosh = God) Therefore, to me, "crap" is just a pretty cuss word... and on the scale of one to ten... I would give it a 4 (with 1 being pure speech without euphemisms and 10 being speech full of pure cuss words).

In my opinion the above mentioned word is not really considered a "cuss" word, but it is a nasty word and I don't use it. I also don't admire people who make a habit of using that word. If ten is the highest (curse), I would rate it 8.

Originally it started as a replacement word for things much worse. I'm not gonna mention them becuase I'll probably make a mistake and speel them accidently. Over time, though, it got to be as bad as the actual words that it replaced.
On the scale. .00002

I'd say a 4 also...but you kow some people get offended by hell and some people don't even like the expresssion Oh My God! or Oh God! I don't get it. But even though I don't consider it a curse word, I still wouldn't use it around certain people.
