right click the program you want the shortcut for, then choose create shortcut, put that shortcut on your desktop.

Right-click your desktop, go to New...>Shortcut and push browse, go to C:\Program Files\ and choose the program. Another way is to open that folder in Explorer (Not Internet Explorer, just Explorer) and right-drag (like regular drag, except use the right mouse button) and put it on your desktop. When you release it, a menu will come up asking you some stuff and you need to push Create Shortcut Here. A third way is to open the program folder in Explorer and right-click on the program and go to Send To>Desktop (Create Shortcut)

Two ways to create a shortcut,
1) Right mouse click on the desktop and select "NEW" then choose
"shortcut".
or
2) In Windows Explorer, find a program you want to place on desktop, high lite the program, right mouse click, select "Create Shortcut" and then CUT it and PASTE it on your desktop.

If the program you want a shortcut for is in the start>programs list then you can just drag and drop the program onto your desktop. If not you can do the same from Windows Explorer...
