Why?
From which Gospel writer does this scene come, Matthew or Luke?

I was torn for best answer: I think Patricia M and Barksabit have tied, but I am giving it to Patricia M since she has less Yahoo! Answers points.

Both were excellent answers, though. :)

The fact that Joseph, despite cultural issues, took a pregnant woman who wasn't carrying his child to be counted in the census as his wife. Here was a woman who was telling an incredible story -- how many people would believe that she had been impregnated by the Holy Spirit? But Joseph trusted and believed in her.

That's faith; if we see the Christmas story as being the beginning of the story of how God gave people the power to save themselves through faith, then Joseph's act of faith in Mary's story is the beginning of that.

Luke

And there were shepherds out in the fields nearby keeping watch over their flocks by night. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were afraid.
"Fear not," the angel said, "I bring you good new of great joy that will be for all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign unto you . You will find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of heavenly hosts appeared praising God and Saying... Glory to God in the highest, and on earth , peace, goodwill to men."

It seems silly but my first memory of this is when Linus says it during Merry Christmas Charlie Brown. Now that I am saved I read it to my children every Christmas Eve.

Ok their seems to be some confusion here. Are you talking about the movie or the Jesus being born honey?
If the movie then the soap in his mouth scene.
If its Jesus...I would say the whole story!

When Mary and Joseph can find no one to give them shelter and finally rest in a manger. This would be considered very base or lowly, like how we see homeless people who sleep in the street.

When Mary wraps the baby in swaddling clothes and lays him in the manger. I don't remember which gospel it is.

The Birth of Jesus, for without him coming to die for my sins and the sins of the world, we would all be doomed to hell!
