I connected it to my work computer with the connector cable provided, but the Setup Assistant mentioned in the Quick Start pamphlet provided with the iPod didn't come up on my computer. (Perhaps it won't come up on my work computer.) I want to disconnect the iPod, but I don't want to mess it up. I just got it yesterday. Any suggestions?

Assuming you plugged it first time:-

1. Unplug it. It is OK. Windows shows this message but your IPOD is empty hence you have no data that can be lost.

2. Install ITUNE and driver using the CD.

3. Plug it back and transfer songs.

You have to download iTunes and install it on that computer so you can eject it. If you disconnect it without ejecting it you will mess up the memory.

An icon of your ipod should have appeared when you plugged it in. Click on the icon then click the eject button.
