i recently being having a debate with a mate at wether chelsea really are playing not to there potential this season. He believes that chelsea are not quite firing on all cylinders this season, where as i believe this is just the way they play and have played for the last two seasons. this season it is being highlighted more because man utd are playing so well and with great flair where as it seems chelsea are grinding out results. what is evry1 elses opinion are chelsea going to get a lot better this season or is this just the way they play?

Good answer Madge 51. Man Utd are playing much better this season than the last two. And they can still play a lot better ! Chelsea aren't playing any different, it's just that other teams have found them out. United have been built up over years whilst Chelsea's has been bought by one man - remember Blackburn and Jack Walker? And, by the way, what is the point of Frank Lampard? 2nd best footballer in the world mt a*se.

Chelsea's mode of play has been under scrutiny from all the premiership clubs ever since they won the premiership championship, so it isn't a surprise that they appear as if they are misfiring, it is just clubs like ManU have found a way and formula to play better this season. Remember, Arsenal were once the team to beat, but then everything just crumbled underneath them when Viera left, but they now play the most attractive football in the premiership, though sometimes this doesn't wield good results.
Chelsea front line has not been scoring much as they used to, save only for Drogba. The arrival of Shevchenko and Ballack has seen much shuffling of players and the once playmaker, Robben usually finds himself on the bench most of the time, and again his way of play is now familiar to most defenders. The team might get better but to me, the expected fire power of the players has been disappointing and it merely serves to illustrate that the millions of pounds spent to achieve the much sought glory seem to be money down the drain.
ManU on the other hand, are playing better than last season and they seem to be firing from all cylinders hence they deserve to be the premiership log leaders, but football is full of surprises, lets wait and see how the log will be after the hectic festive period.

Man u are playing so much better this season. Chelsea are playing ok, but who cares what they do as long as utd keep getting the points.

Chelsea are playing worse. In the season, where they stole the title from Arsenal after Man united robbed us, they lost 1 game. This season they have already lost 3 games in the premiership. They even lost to Werder Bremen!

if you consider last seasons results to this seasons chelsea are actually 5 points better off this season. utd this season? 1 pt out of 6 at home against chelsea and arsenal hardly league winning form! they even lost to celtic, copenhagen and southend utd!!

Man Utd are definitely on top of their game.
Chelsea might be a bit off because of Petr Cech's gruesome injury.

united are definitely playing better, and chelsea are dropping points i don't expect there to be a huge gap at the end of the season but the draw at old trafford could come back to haunt united.

A bit of both. Man U are certainly playing well - though eg Jose reckons they have had easier fixtures with harder ones to come still. Chelski have had to wait for new players like Ballack and Schevchenko to settle in - which they nearly have now
