Perform at gag bachelor parties or be an actor/actress. It is a niche market, but if you live in a large enough city, you might even be able to start your own business doing it and turn a handy profit. But you'd have to cut out the drinking (at least on the job), as it would not lend itself to doing good business.

Start a boutique that markets toward drag queens and crossdressers. You would have to live in a large enough city to financially support this plan.
They need places to shop too.

Start by helping of crossdressers dress-up & taking them out for their first time. Then work on a transformation/makeover service for guys that want to be girls and let it grow from there.

Open a shop and cater toward other Drag Queens, cross dressers, transvestites, and trans-gendered people. I don't know where you live but in BRIGHTON, ENGLAND there are a handful of these shops that are fabulous! I don't cross-dress but these shops are so much fun they make me seriously think about it ;-) I always go there to buy gifts for my friends who do.

Maybe you could sell cosmetics like Avon or Mary Kay?
I have heard that many women admire the ability that some transvestites have to apply makeup and transform themselves. Good luck!! :)

Create a store, or on line store that caters to people like you. Women's wonderful styles are somewhat hard to find in men's sizes. If you are a petite little thing, than the clothing world is your oyster! Me? I'm a big girl... pisses me off when my smaller friends find things off the rack and fit into them!
Shoes too...

I love Jeff's boutique idea, but it may cost you too much cash. Maybe you can start selling these online, and just maintain a warehouse (or maybe just your house), of these things. Sell online, design the clothes (or get a designer's help), and "test" them yourself. This way you will both be wearing them, and evaluating them for your customers. You get to earn by doing what you love without ripping yourself off at the start, it's win-win.

If you don't like to be in front of people doing shows, I would suggest working at a support center. It will be a place where you know you will be excepted and it will definately help with your self esteem...you will be making a difference in people's lives.

If you're an alcoholic, it won't matter if you find something productive to do while crossdressed, because you'll just find a different lame excuse for your excessive drinking.
