Given the corruption, anti-American attitude, and the general lack of effectiveness, should we save our time and money and just gracefully bow out??

There is definitely an anti-American sentiment in the UN. The UN was formed after WWII to basically police the world to prevent another global conflict. However, it has always been the US that has been trying to police the world with the UN not backing the US. It has been the US funding the majority of the expense. Maybe the US and its true allies - Great Britain, Canada, Israel, and some others - should form their own group. We should let other nations fight their own battles. Leave them alone even when they come to us for help. However, if another countries' actions threaten any of the group, we will all take quick and precise actions to the eliminate that threat.

Hmmm hard question, well are reasons to believe America is not anymore to be trusted anymore, but also now republicans are history, as democrats rule congress and house and I guess on 2008 will elect a democrat president maybe Hilary Clinton. But I personally think since we all are in this planet we should hear every ones opinion, with and without acting on it. Will do more good then bad, I hope.

I did a search for the porpoise of the US and got............

"We the peoples of the United Nations determined..." And with those words the UN was established in 1945. The UN has several main purposes an international organization. To maintain peace and security; to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect; to cooperate in solving international problems; to be a center for harmonizing the actions of nations.

The point is, why is it a bad place when they don't agree with us and a good place for when the do, Aren't they basically the consensus for the other parts of the world

We should have quit that joke about 40 years ago and then given them the boot. That place would be great as rent control apartments for the working man and woman.
