Hello!
How many of you currently have or have had a job as a waitress? I am looking to get a job fast & I know if a few local places that are hiring waitresses. They are family-oriented places, nothing fancy. Average meal runs $8-$15. What is the work like? What should I expect in tips? I've never worked as a waitress outside of the home (I have a husband and two kids...so I know what it is like to wait on people!) I appreciate all of your answers!

If the job interests you, go for it!!! I know several people who were waitresses and earned great tips, it was however due to their people skills. If you are a friendly, energetic, people, person, that can handle busy days on your feet you shall go far! A great book to master those skills is "How to Win Friends and Influence People!"

***By the way, don't let anyone put down you working as a waitress, out of the 3 that I know, 2 are now 6 figure income earners and the other is a multi-millionaire!!!***

Hard work,,,very little pay,,,Sometime you will have to put up with abuse from customers. Most of your income will come from tips. The amount of tips you receive will be determined by you,,,are you a good Waitress??,,and what you are willing to go through with [abuse from some of the customers.

you have to work alot and sometimes the tips arent really that great.May I suggest something I stumbled onto?FastFood forget every thing you have ever heard .I work at burger king get good hours, open the store in the morning start up breakfast and I love it.It only took me about a month to get that position they constantly have opening for assistant managers and closers as well. You can work your way up and get good wages if you just show up and do your job.You work with teens thats why responsible adults move up so fast.
