No. shes committing internet fraud. Joking!! If you have DSL then you dont need one. You only need a password if you have a specified Internet Service Provider such as AOL or MSN but if you have DSL youre already paying for the connection they dont care for more...

yeah it is. i don't know why you would need a password to log on to the internet though. anyway, she probably just set it up so that the computer remembers the password and automatically signs in, which is easier so you don't have to remember it each time.
