What is a good website to download music from?

I'm wanting to download music to my MP3 player (I haven't done it before) and would like to know which one is the best and safest. I don't mind paying for the songs if I have to. Thanks.

I use Soulseek it's a free file sharing program you can download no spyware or adware, DO NOT go for Bearshare it's full of spys and adware!
