Most department and grocery stores will save boxes for you, if you ask them.
As a moving veteran, I can tell you that there is no really 'easy' way to move. Now, I do agree that bags aren't really a good idea for most packing: Fragile items will get knocked around and broken. But I can tell you that if you pack one room at a time, it will be easier to label and inventory what you have.
One thing I do is pack small items inside larger ones: For instance, I will pack my little bottles of herbs and spices inside my pans. That helps keep them together, and helps save space. As a rule, I try to use relatively flat boxes that aren't too large for books, since paper can get surprisingly heavy. And I make sure to wrap fragile items in plenty of newspaper. The plastic bags from grocery stores are good packing material too, as long as nothing spilled in them.
Good luck!

Moving time is purging time. I moved from a large 3 bdrm to a small 1 bdrm apt. Believe me, the 1 bdrm was packed every inch, top to bottom. That will never happen again.
Begin by 'purging'. Throw out or donate anything that you haven't worn/used for the past year. You'll be amazed at what kind of a dent you put in your project at this point. Then, get boxes from your local supermarket/covenience stores. FREE of charge and groceries come in very good, sturdy boxes. Then, pack up room by room. Label the boxes by room and when the boxes get to the new place, anyone helping you move will clearly see what room each box goes in. Or you can number each room of the new place (put a sticky on the door of each room, with it's number). Also, number each box by room. Box #3 goes in room #3. Simple.
Believe me! It took me years to get this simple, effective tip through my head.

The more shortcuts you take the more difficult it is..... First thing everything goes in a box!!! NO BAGS.... bags dont stack and they tear open.... Secondly when you buy boxes buy modular boxes of which stack in a consistent fashion i.e. one big box is equal to two boxes and so on and so forth.......Use packing tape and mark boxes....I like to use a conex or a pod... they will rent it to you by the month, you can load items in it at your convenience and the entry to the pod is at ground level (they place it in the street or driveway) when you are ready to move it they pick it up and deliver it to where you need it and then you unload it at your convenience....Also if you are going to have people help you move ....have it all boxed before they get there!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.andersenskulptur.com

if you are renting a moving truck, look at the cost of professional movers. I moved houses (within the same city) and it was cheaper to pay someone to pack it all up, move and unpack most of it then it would have been for me to purchase the boxes and rent the truck for two days, from uhaul. Much less stress too.

instead of sitting there folding everything try rolling them up , like for pants put one leg on the other and roll it from the hip to the heel and for shirts fold in half and align the sleeves with the border of the shirt and roll from neck to waist. hair accessories put in a ziploc and let all the air out b4 u close it. that's all i got for now

You could pay some one to move it for you, or call up all of your friends.
