If you're familiar with me and my name, you may know I've been asking several pregnancy questions over the last few months. I'm finally pregnant! Just found out and am now 9 weeks pregnant. MY MAIN CONCERN is that I may be developing gestational diabetes. I know most people only just start developing it around the 24th week, but in the last 2 weeks, I've had incredibly BAD vision (*Not being able to see over about 10-15 feet away) and also it feels like I can NEVER quench my neverending thirst. I feel like salt is caking my mouth. I drank a gallon of water in 4 hours!!! Which doesn't help with my increased urination. The last thing (other than all my normal symptoms,) is breast tenderness with occasional stabbing pains throughout my breasts maybe every other day. Any help with these things and previous pregnancy experience would help. THANKS!

Oh, yeah I'm 21 and I've had perfect vision all my life, up until 2 weeks ago when this increased thirst started.

You need to call your doctor and make an appointment. Be sure and tell them all of the symptoms you've been experiencing.

First off, call the Doc and report your symptoms. Whether it's gestational diabetes or not, you need to know for sure.
If it is, you've got to have the proper diet. There have been women who have to take medication as well. This complication can be taken care of with relative ease and can be handled so that it doesn't cause premature labor, birth defects, or injury to you. But, you have to catch it as early as possible and you have to do what the doctor tells you to do.
If it's not gestational diabetes, you need to make sure there isn't anything else going on that could put you or your baby at risk. Do not take chances. Do not "wait and see".
That being said, I had extremely bad dry mouth during all three of my pregnancies. I slept with a bottle of water next to the bed and carried one everywhere I went. I was always thirsty. Even if it makes you have to pee every 2 minutes, drink, drink, drink. You need it. The baby needs it. Don't forget that eating fresh fruits and vegetables will also help your body get that much desired water intake. So, try having a glass of water and an apple or a handful of grapes, etc. instead of three glasses of water in one sitting. You won't feel as water logged and too much water can cause your sodium levels to go hay wire. You don't need that complication either! Also, don't forget to drink your milk!
As for the breast pains. They are going to hurt. They are going to hurt worse later. It's just the way it is. It's your body's way of getting you used to the "let down" sensations of breastfeeding. (Just like Braxton Hicks contractions do for your uterus and labor pains.) Toward the end of your pregnancy you'll probably have a small amount of breast milk come in and have to wear nursing pads in your bra to keep it dry and clean. (The bonus here is to not tell your husband about it and let him find out "the hard way". The look on his face will be a source of amusement for years to come!) Unlike most women, my milk started coming in at around 5 months. By the time my babies got here, I had enough milk to feed mine and everybody else's at the hospital! I was like a geyser! (Your body will automatically produce enough milk for two babies. It will regulate with the rate of consumption.)
As for your eyesight issues, both eyesight and dental issues can develop with pregnancy. Your prescription can change, you might have to have glasses when you didn't before or you may not be able to wear your contacts. This happens a lot. It usually goes back to normal after the baby is born. I had to have my prescription adjusted every time. Your gums and teeth are more sensitive and more susceptible to infection and bleeding during pregnancy. Bad breath can also be a problem during pregnancy. Take extra care and see the dentist during your pregnancy.
Well, hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless!

Your breasts will hurt off and on the whole time.

Pregnancy does affect eye sight. You may even get "floaters"

The water is a good thing....UTI's are VERY common in pregnancy so I would say keep that up!

You can request that your Dr. check you sooner for the GD!

Usually you get a metal taste in your mouth but I guess with you its salt lol =)~

Go to the doctor and talk to him/her about it. They will do some bloodwork. Nobody here can diagnose you.
