It depends on what you mean by recover, you can be up and around without pain in about a week. You can be up and around and in pain in about 24 hours...the faster you start moving around the faster the pain goes away. Try to walk every 3-4 hours after the first couple days. Most of the pain is from the muscles siezing up, keep them warm and loose and it will feel better. Heating pads set on low kept on the incision will also help with muscle pain.
Breast feeding also makes for a faster recovery in any type of childbirth. It stimulates the uterus to return to normal size, it also causes your body to release prolactin which is a feel good drug.
no heavy lifting or excersize until your six week visit and then your doctor will take a look and feel at what is going on and advise you from there.
A body takes about a year to completely recover from invasive surgery, longer for some people due to age and health issues.
I have had 4 c-sections..two were only 13 months apart, another one two years later and the last one 10 years after the third.

I've had 2 c-sections and the first one took a lot longer to heal and the pain to go away. (6 weeks at least) My second cesarian didn't hurt near as bad and I healed w/in 2-3 weeks. I had to sleep on the couch about a week after I got home from the hospital cuz I needed something to pull myself up on but after that I was fine. I was carrying the baby in carrier, walking upstairs w/ it and everything. I think you'll be just fine, just give it some time and really use your friends and family network the first couple of weeks and you'll do great
Good Luck!

I started feeling better after the 6-week benchmark but fully recovered after 8-9 weeks; was able to do regular housework, get in/out of car with no pain, play with baby, etc...

Most Employers give you 8 weeks off for a C-Section.
It is afterall major surgery. However, I have had two of them, and I was up and around in a week or so taking care of the baby myself, the 1st week was hard, my mother in law helped and my husband helped. It was hard to lift things. You are not suppose to lift heavy things because the strain could cause problems.

No time at all - about 6 weeks. You will start feeling fit after about 2 weeks, but still be careful lifting

It all depends on your own body and when it feels comfortable to do things again. Just try to be patient and not rush things. the average time is about 4 - 6 weeks, although it can potentially take months.
