Its when everyone goes to the shops at the same time and get stressed, then they go home and decorate their houses with tacky bits of glitter and a dead tree. Then on the night before christmas they lie to their children by telling them that a fat old man will climb down the chimney while they are asleep and leave parcels under the dead tree (surprising how they ever sleep again) and then in the morning they get up extra early and watch everyone unwrap their hankies, slippers and soap on a ropes and then they all sit down to eat turkey and roast tatties ...and they make the children eat it all and wear stupid hats. Then after dinner all the men sit down on the sofa and sleep while the kids break their new toys and the mums spend the rest of the evening tidying up after everyone. The older people in the family then get totally pis*ed as farts.
It's great

I think I may have heard once that it had something to do with some bird on a donkey, but don't quote me on that

the joyous event christmas is about a some baby being born (jesus the savior according to christmas).
The event happens on the 25th dec but jesus was more than likley born at the beginning of december but the celebration date changed so it was on one of the pagan festival times. Apparently the year AD is jesus' age so he was born 0 AD, but due to the times of the roman census he was most likley born either in 4 BC or 6 AD.
The festival has become grosseley ovewr commercialised too.

For me Christmas is the celebration of the arrival of the Christ child (the anointed one or the one with the abilities attributed to Jesus. )). His presence is always in us and among us of course, but on the 25 of Dec. Christians celebrate corporately and personally the coming of Jesus as a child then, and as His Spirit comes among us now.

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. I thought every-body knew that, unless you don't celebrate Christmas.

Originally the birth of Jesus.
In our times one doesn't necessarily have to be religious to be caught up in the spirit of it all...
So, I suppose for the many it is, as others have said, become a time for too much food, too much spending, and a lot of hard work for those who clean and cook.
But I think what a sad world it would be without it!

It is about being kinder to others and giving a little more of yourself, helping those who are less fortunate than you are also spending time with friends and family (if you have any) and just having good will toward your fellow man.
