Hello Friend,
SAP stands for Systems Applications & Products for dataprocessing. It is an ERP package i.e Enterprise Resource Planning package. The concept of ERP package is that moving away from the Operating System storage of data to Database storage. This improves performance, security, integrity, avoids duplication of data, consistency and faster access and other benefits.
SAP was developed by SAP AG , an German company. It has rich set of modules which suits many no: of verticals & businesses and is right now almost consuming the ERP market. There are two types of consultants:
1) Technical Consultants --> ABAP programmers, BASIS & Netweaver consultants.
2) Functional Consultants ---> Module specific like SD, MM, FI/CO, PP, HR, etc.( upto 40 modules)
There are few authorized training partners like SIEMENS which is located in cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad,etc
Even SAP AG itself will be conducting training courses which last for few weeks but is quite expensive. SAP has its offices in India namely SAP Labs, Bangalore and SAP India at other loacations as well. There are also books released by SAP which contain good information but costs in dollars.
SAP is going to rule the market for quite many years from now.... since it is growing day by day and invests heavily in R&D
