i dont know,but its annoying! i also have to turn sound right up when watching dvd's,why is that??!! hope someone knows!

Yep, it's that they turn the sound up for the advertising. MSNBC is the worst for that and the next is ABC Family. Not all of the advertisements are excessively loud, so that means the advertiser is paying more for them to crank the sound up on their advertisements.
I will NEVER buy anything from an advertiser who has high volume on their commercials. If everyone did that it would soon stop.

You don't really turn the sound up, it's just that they broadcast the adverts with a higher volume - And yes, it is very very annoying
