It's called a double standard. Most people tend to try to forget the past when it comes to the bad. But good or bad its still the past and although nothing can be done to redo whats been done we can still learn and grow from our past mistakes, good or bad.

People only want to remember the good times in their lives. But without the bad times how can you be you without that conflict? Remember the good times and the glass is half full, remember the bad times and the glass is half empty.

The SAME people will certainly Never Let You...
"forget the past", when it is you who were wrong!!
They are people who live on "One Way Streets"
and Everyone needs to just steer clear of their path!!

They want you to forget the past when they have done something wrong because it takes the heat off of them. It is always because of their guilt, they want you to forget to make it easier on them.

They don't want you to remember, because then they have to remember the bad things and take responsibility for them. They want you to remember the good things they've done because they can feel good about themselves. They want it to be all about them, apparantly......
But hey, forget I even said that!

You know I've been told once that I was living too much in the past. That I have spent too much time dwelling on my past mistakes and not living in the present. So I try very hard not to think too much about past mistakes.

You are so right! A double standard.
But what happens to me most often is: if they do something wrong, they want me to forget it and put it in the past, but if I do something wrong, then they keep bringing it up and bothering me with it.

Yeah, that's so true.
Kind of like Mark McGuire. He doesn't want to talk about the past and possibly incriminate himself doing steroids. But he does want to talk about the past so he can get into the hall of fame. Hmmmmm.

We all are so afraid of losing trust, reputation that when caught red handed doing a blunder we try to defend ourselves by showing our good past. Nothing new, its typical human defensive behaviour. By doing so people try to let you know that you should forgive them of current mistake as they had no bad intentions & remind you of past as a proof.
