The lifters cannot be repaired only replaced. Let me qualify my answer a little. If you are completely overhauling an engine, the lifters can be disassembled, checked for tolerance and cleaned. Due to the labor involved, no one does that anymore because compared to labor lifters are cheap.
It can be a real chore to replace lifters, even with the proper tools. If the pushrod holes in the head are not big enough for a lifter to pass, the intake manifold will have to be removed.
Now you must use pliers or a puller to get the lifters out of the lifter bore. Crud from oil builds up on the bottom part of the lifter that does not travel up into the bore and sometimes it gets hard enough to make it impossible to remove the lifter without disassembling the engine and driving them out with a punch. If you have to go that route, overhaul the engine while you are at it.

i own a repair shop, and you don't repair lifters ,,if there bad throw them out and get new ones,,once they go bad there's no repair you can make to them, they just wear out,,if your going to replace them you need a good repair manual to help you through the process,,good luck i hope this help,s.

the only way i know is just change them.whats it doing?are they making a noise?if so then they are not pumping up all the way.the only way around it,is just change them.if you change them make sure you put them in oil and pump them up by hand before you install them.
