like in the summer you are swimming most likely for me in an outside pool. so from that the sun is shining and going through the water and the rays hit us / you which when your swimming makes you very dark and tan. when i swim for two hours a day in the summer i get so dark from swimming constintly in the sun= dark tan

the water does nothing to make swimmers tan. It's the fact they swim outside sometimes. Some teams practice outside every day. Have you ever gone to the beach and gotten tan. Thats what some swimmers do every day

swimmers are so tan because they practice in the an outside pool and the practice for like 4 hours out side in the afternoon or at noon and the meets are a whole day and you get sunburn sometimes.

Swimmers aren't always tan. Especially age group state/club swimmers, as the chlorine can bleach the skin, which actually makes your skin lighter. Unless you were just born that way.
Swimmers normally swim indoors, yearround

UH, because if they swim outside, they are wearing bathing suits in the nice bright sun shine, and this tans them? As opposed to eskimoes who wear parkas all the time and don't have much skin showing.

Maybe because they're outside/ inside where the sun is hitting the water and reflecting onto their swimsuit only covered bodies?! just a guess ;)

Because when most swimmers swim, they wear swimsuits not really covering their entire bodies, thus letting sun hit some parts of their body and not others, and they part the sun rays hit, get tanner.
