Hi,i'm planning to buy a Dell inspiron 6400 with 2.0ghz core 2 duo(4mb cache) and 2 ghz ram(dual channel-ddr2) and an ATI mobility X1400 256mb with hypermemory, and a 15,4'' widescreen display.(laptop)
but the question is that i want to be able to chat, play, surf, listen to music and watch videos with it, and i was wondering that can i play games like sims2-GTA-Star wars-Empire earth and similar games with 'normal' graphics? and can i burn DVD's and at the same time play(for example) or listen to music??
and if the fans inside the laptop(for example for the cpu) gets dirty how can i clean it? can i do it myself?
i hope you people could give me a good answer so i won't waste my money on something not good,,, thanx alot ;) peace

It will be a fine laptop for your purposes. It's not really a gaming machine, but it will be able to output pretty good graphics.

As for cleaning the laptop, there are many guides that have tell you how to clean things online, but you would have to open it on most occasions. In most cases, with normal use, your fan shouldn't get so dirty that it would really require that much attention, though some might disagree with me.

Though, the most important thing when buying anything is to look around and try it and other laptops out before buying if you can get your hands on a display model or something.

That laptop (going on the specs that you have provided) should be plenty fast enough. However make sure you aren't wasting money on more computer than you need - unless you plan to play a lot of newer games or do a lot of video editing you could probably save a far bit and get a cheaper computer.

Remember that different computers are designed for different tasks, and there's no sense in paying for features you don't need!

As for cleaning the fans - you shouldn't need to do this for normal usage, but if you do require it, unless you are definitely willing to take risks with your hardware and void your warranty i would suggest you get an authorised tech to do the job for you. Laptops are designed to be as compact as possible as opposed to desktop computers which comply with case design specifications and are generally easy to open up and stuff around in...
