The best product I've found is the plug-in units that emit a sound that only the rodents can hear.
I have pets & they don't seem to be bothered by them.
You can purchase these at Wal-Mart, Lowe's and probably Home Depot.
They're relatively inexpensive and are based on square footage.
With these, there are no worries about poisons laying around that a child or pet could get into.
I've not seen a mouse in the house since I began using them.
Good luck!

Depends a lot on how many mice you have, and whether they're outside or inside (got a friend with a problem in her yard). What I've found that works if you live somewhere warm enough is let a few native nonvenemous snakes go in the area, they can get into places where the dogs and cats can't, and when the rodents are gone, they'll move on to better feeding grounds. One thing though, don't let a snake go where you've already set out poison for rodents, just because the rodents haven't eaten enough to kill themselves, doesn't mean that a few of them won't have enough poison in their systems to kill your snake.

Also encourage owls, hawks, and other natural predators in the area to hang around. Don't ask me how, they will if conditions are right. :-)

I tell people to get a dog. Why do people think cats are
good mousers. A dog mainly your small terrier are naturally good mousers, dogs can even be trained for that sort of job. Also you need to experiment with different
bait, some mice will even eat instant coffee.Make sure your traps are set right. We use a small plastic have-a-hart traps for mice and also the sticky type. The stick type
must be in a box or tent shape they both usually work.

We had a mouse problem for a while because the cat kept bringing them in, that's why we had to get traps. Our
former dog was a good mouser.

you need to do a deep clean of your house and kitchen. like a deep deep clean, pull out your stove, fridge, and dishwasher if you can, the mice are only coming in your house for one thing. FOOD!.and if you even have the smallest crumb on your floors they will still come in. use some bleach, clean out your cupboards. seal up any holes you may see, set out soem regular old mice traps, and you will catch them. sounds like you need to clean real well though. clean clean clean!!.

1. stick steel wool in every hole and around every pipe in the house
2. the put peanut butter in traps

when mice die in traps, no others will be able to come in because of the steel wool.

good luck1
