I have a very distinct style - but my boyf never compliments me? he points out stuff in shops that i wouldn't even look at or consider wearing. i like making my own clothes and until recently didn't think that my style was 'wrong'?? some suggestions - how do blokes feel about the way girls dress?

Remember that fashion exists in order to sell you more of what you already have. For example, if you spent £100 on a raincoat you would expect it to last for a few years, wouldn't you ... so the fashion shops can't sell you another until then. So what they do is say "oh, brown is so last season, that hemlength is out of date, vertical stripes are so passe, etc...." and then you feel inferior and go out and buy another £100 raincoat which does exactly the same job but is in this year's colour and style.
So ... remember that fashion is trying to fleece your wallet.
Wear what you want, stand out from the crowd - you may be different but people will secretly envy you and openly admire you. You don't really want to go out with a gaggle of girls who are all wearing the same - all the guys will notice the girl with the interesting glittery scarf, or the unusual jewellery or who is wearing the bright colours when everyone else is wearing black.
So be unique and individual. Uour boyfriend may be trying to help by getting involved - he obviously recognises that you are interested in style and probably wants to have an input. It's worth getting his opinion since he does have to look at you but, in the end, trust your own judgement and SHINE!

I don't know how blokes feel about this but as the mother of a teenage boy i have noticed that more than ever kids are splitting into distinct groups int he way they dress-chavs wear designer gear and labels, emos, goths greebos, which is what he says i am-even though i haven't really changed my style of dress-its just come back into fashion!! i try to tell him-does it matter what group you are in just wear what you want!! apparently it does though. I would never change the way i dress for someone-it sounds like you are unique and that's great-don't be a sheep-take some of the things he likes a give them your own tweak-i would love to be able to make my own clothes unfortunately my sewing hasn't improved since i was six!!!

I wear whatever I like and feel comfortable in. I buy all my stuff (am not creative or clever enough to make my own stuff - well done you), so that means that sometimes its "fashion" stuff, but I mix and match how I like things. I also get a lot of stuff from non high street places like Camden market. The right person for me would be someone that appreciates my taste and thinks I look good in what I choose to wear.

As a girl, I take my own lead and if a guy I'm going out with has issues with the way I dress, ditch him.

Or maybe lay down the cards on the table and tell him that you are you and you dress as you like.

Unless you wear colours like fluorescent green, neon yellow and hot pink together, then, I'm in support of you.

But do go on shopping trips with your boyfriend. Maybe you guys can settle on something that both of you like.

My husbands taste in clothes (for me) is completely different than what I wear. Wear what you think fits you the best, hopefully your relationship with your boyfriend can see past fashion sense.

Personally, I have my own style. I am not influenced by fashion changes any more.
Why can't we all be different/ourselves? It's boring to see the majority wearing similar 'things'.

i love those who've their very personal kinds...fantastically those that steer sparkling of hollister, american eagle, and abercrombie. Their clothing are tacky and unoriginal. Having an excellent type of impartial, classic colors like black a army with a pair colourful splurges is the neatest element to do...and locate out the thanks to spend your money! you're a sensible woman!

Obviously dictated unless you design and make your own cloth and clothes.
