Well it depends... when gnats mate, the males form large swarms which can sometimes last for most of the day. This swarming behaviour is a way of attracting females into the mass of males. Mating is one of the absolutely most important functions of any organism and requires a lot of attention. If they didnt pay attention during these several hours, they may miss the opportunity to mate, so I imagine their attention span can last for several hours during this spectacular mating assemblages.

I guess first, you need to define what you mean by 'gnat.' The term usually refers to tiny files of some sort. Anyhow, if you've ever been pestered by a gnat such as a black fly or sand fly, you know that they will pursue you for hours until you squish them, lose them in the wind, or they bite you and get what they need. So, I would say their attention span is as long as several hours when they are trying to bite you.,
