men- breath mint

Since you wrote "would", rather than "should", I guess you're asking what they actually DO, not what they OUGHT to to. So, with women, I'd say it'd be their purse/pocketbook. With men: their wallet.

Actually, for both, you COULD say "car keys", since most people drive, so they're not going very far without those, while they could easily forget the wallet or purse!
