I think the reality is that life is largely dull and uneventful. (only if you live in the rich west, though). The news and media may give the impression that all is Armageddon around us, but ask yourself how often REALLY bad things happen to people who you know and to yourself. The media exaggerration is far from the norm. We are lucky to live such relatively boring lives. It gives us a chance to do what all will do when (not if) there is world peace - use our imaginations, be creative, be constructive.
If you feel overwhelmed by it all, well everyone does at some point, so your feelings are normal - We are all very small beings in a very big world. Maybe you could watch less negative stuff on tv and introduce more postive things into your life. This may give you a better sense of equalibrium.

When I first read your question I thought you were talking about personal things, but then I realised it was more about political issues.
I am a multicultural person, had travel a lot and lived in many different countries. Believe me, every single place has their own little issues. If not high taxes and terrorism, high insecurity, hunger, poverty, no jobs, very little opportunities to have a normal life. There isnt any respect for human beings. What I find the worst, is that people living in their own countries seem to be acting like residents and not citizens. They couldnt care less.

Yes. I dont know whether it's because things are more difficult or if it's just because I notice them more because I'm older...I am picking up on more stressful events, everyone has to keep beating certain targets etc. I am also going through cancer which makes me often feel miserable but then I remember that even though things are really rough there are so many positives which I can achieve too. I think if we kept moping about terrorism or council tax we'd just be miserable people and we'd forget to live our lives to the max and have fun. I do my best to keep cheerful by just looking at positives.

well, actually i used to feel like that when i was young and having such a pessimistic take on life. there were occasions where i felt like i wanted to walk out of the door and not come back afterwards.
yes life sucks sometimes, i've experienced a lot of crap and having to put up with a lot of it. but nowadays i always try to focus on the positive and remain upbeat as much as i can. even if there are certain people who wish to make my life- and our lives as difficult as they can. but we have to get through it, no matter what.

I have often thought of doing what you mention, but alas, I am happy enough doing what I am doing.
