HI Marcus,
I have no idea where you live, or what kind of turtles you have, so I can not say for sure... But if you are in the USA or anywhere in the vacinity; this is hibernating season for turtles.
I have 2 box turtles, I hadn't seen 1 in about 2 months until I had to clean out the water fall and found Turtle Dum underneath it (it is a solid 1 pc waterfall and they have a nice little cave dug under it) burried in leaves and dirt and hapily snoozing, Turtle Dee had only been coming out about every 3 days to eat and now I haven't seen her in at least a week.
You may want to make sure your turtle has a safe hibertation area to hide in.
They need a deep enough layer of damp loose dirt and leaves to burry themselves in and still get air circulation.
You can rake up a pretty good pile of fallen leaves and cut grass and mix it up with good clean soil (make sure there are no fertilizers or pesticides on in it) dampen it well and put the turtle in it. The turtle should be able to completely cover itself a couple of inches deep. Just keep it moist, not wet.
They will come wake up and come out when they are ready.
Some turtles only go into simi hibernation... they will wander in and out of it, just make sure to keep fresh water and food out for it if this is what yours is doing.

I have a turtle that is fighting off hibernation mode... my vet told me that if the turtle has been domesticated all its life, it's not quite safe for a turtle to go into hibernation because they haven't been through the motions fully. They might not make it through this time.
I've been told to keep my turtle stimulated... make sure the tank is warm and that he has an area to climb out on and dry out. Also put in a variety of foods like new fruits, and rose minnows along with the floating pellets.
good luck.

What kind of turtle is it? It sounds like the basic cares (housing, temps, lighting, diet, etc.) are going to be the problem.
Let us know the species and what you are doing for it, and we can try to help. Or, you can try http://www.austinsturtlepage.com and try the World of Turtles gallery to identify the turtle and the Care Shhets to find the proper cares.
Or you can try the forums at http://www.turtleforum.com to find experts who will gladly help in a more helpful format than we can do here.

you probably sont have enough heat for it, so it thinks it needs to hibernate. some turtles like to dig and just lay under the dirt, so that might be it too. make sure you have a big enough heat lamp and a UVB/UVA light.

he might be starting to get ready to hibernate so don't give him any food for a month or two.
