How long do we have to put up with this...year after year someone gets screwed (we did - Auburn - 2 years ago)...how long do we have to put up with it and they talk about it every single year....

Can they not do a playoff system with the top 8 and the rest still go to the regular bowls?

Ok, It can work, but it may not be very likely. The problem is it would add more games to an already long season. We need to remember these are student athletes, not professional athletes.

Here is my playoff plan for the BCS.

It includes 6 teams forget about conference champions we are taking BCS numbers 1-6.

Weekend one mid December
Sugar Bowl #3 Vs #6
Orange Bowl #4 Vs #5

Weekend two late December
Fiesta Bowl #1 Vs winner of Orange Bowl
Rose Bowl #2 Vs winner of Sugar Bowl

Weekend three 1st weekend in January
Winner of Fiesta Bowl Vs Winner of Rose Bowl

This would only add 2 games at the most to these teams schedules how they are now.

Now that you see my play-off system, do I think it will be implemented? Not within the next 2-3 years probably. Sure Auburn got screwed, but had Auburn gotten in then somebody else would have been screwed.

The BCS got it right this year, if you say they didn't, then you need to look at the voters not the BCS!!! I am a Michigan fan, and I am here to say that we did not get screwed by the BCS! If we did get screwed by anybody it would be the voters, but I believe the BCS got it right this year, and remember the BCS doesn't determine who plays who in what bowl except for #1 Vs #2.

If you want to go back to the old bowl system, then USC Vs OSU in the Rose Bowl, and Florida Vs. ?Notre Dame? in Sugar Bowl. Michigan would play maybe Fiesta Bowl, what would happen if USC and Notre Dame each won who would be champion then? The old system was more flawed as to determining Champions than the BCS is!

Unfortunately no, and here's why:
The BCS committee members won't relinquish control. The make big bucks and their schools get nearly all of the national spotlight. to go to a playoff system would mean losing huge amounts of power over who plays who. Not everyone realizes that even if a team is ranked number 2 in the BCS poll, it's possible (not probable) the the committee could vote in the number 3 team to play for the title, they control who goes to which bowl and who they play. On top of that, the bowl games would lose their luster and there's a good chance they could lose corporate sponsorship. Hopefully it will happen, but I just don't see it in the near future.

to answer your question NO
I have been watching college football all my life, I remember when BCS started and we have had this same argument every year since. There is no way that they are going to change it, they would loose to much money if they changed it. NCAA makes a ton of money on these companies that sponsor these bowls, and there is no way that the NCAA is going to cut that income out. The funny part is that the NCAA makes hundreds of millions of dollars every year on the BCS and yet the players that actually do the playing do not receive anything, in fact that get banned if they do, is that fair?? I say pay the players why not let them make something off of this crappy system also. The NCAA is greedy and they want all the money for themselves, I am tired of seeing the NCAA prostitute these college kids out just so they can make all the money.

Until people realize that it's the university presidents who refuse to adopt a playoff system, we're stuck. We can sit here and ***** against the BCS, but in reality, they're doing the best they can with what they have. It doesn't make sense to me why 1A college football is the only sport in American at any age level that doesnt' have a playoff of some sort. Seriously, try to think of one. I think a playoff would actually bring more money into the schools, so I don't see what the problem is...

NO, but we are getting closer. With Loyd Carr and the Florida coach both going on record saying they want a playoff...me should be heading in the right direction, this will not happen in the course of one year, maybe not even five years. All we can hope for is continued contraversy around the BCS at the end of each year and that the effected coaches will hold to their opinions and push for the playoff when it comes time to make that decision.

I hope so ..it is all messed up..they should get rid of it and startall over again..anf they will not go to a playoff system because of all the money that these sponsers are paying for the gamee and the NCAA would lose alot of money..that is what it is all about $$$$..

lets think about this...NO!!!!

the bcs is all about politics, the university presdients, and the coaches on the pannel will not relinquish control. they are out to do whats best for them and their school, so if that means that only a select few can get into a bowl then thats the way that it will be. Its politics, purely politics.

They can't change anything until the current contract is over and that won't be for another 3 or 4 years.
