You most certainly want to dilute it because the ANTIFREEZE is not what is absorbing the heat from the engine. It's the water, The coolant is actually used for a lubricant, anti-corrosion, removing heat (better conductor than water) and to lower the FREEZING point of the mixture. It does not increase the boiling point of water. The pressure in the system, approx. 3 degrees for every 1 psi increase if I remember correctly, increases the boiling point to about 260 degrees (15-16 psi cap).
This is why it is extremely dangerous to open the cap on an overheating engine. The pressure drops and so does the boiling point and the water goes from a liquid to a gas in a fraction of a second rapidly expanding. If you ran nothing but ANTIFREEZE in the system, your vehicle will most likely overheat due to the absence of water. Vehicles driven in extreme heat, run a lower percentage of ANTIFREEZE, if any, and vehicles in the extreme cold run a higher percentage of coolant because of what I mentioned above. If you are experiencing both, then approx. 50/50 works all year. I hope that information helps you understand the reasons for mixing coolant and water.

Antifreeze comes concentrated and is suppose to be dilluted. They ship it stronger than you need to save on shipping cost. You have to add the water to get it back to the strength it is suppose to be. If you use it full strength, it not work as well. It needs the additional water to work properly. It is the water that does most of the cooling. The antifreeze just keeps the water for freezing in the winter or boiling over in the summer. Antifreeze by itself will not porperly cool your car.

Antifreeze will gel at 25 degrees (-5C) if not diluted. The maximum strength it can be used is 75% antifreeze/25% water. When mixed at 50/50, its good to -45. I don't think you have to go any further.

you are suppose to dilute antifreeze. 50 percent water and 50 percent antifreeze. pure antifreeze can and will freeze up and ruin your cooling system. the only antifreeze you don't dilute is the stuff that is already pre mixed.

it depends
if in winter time when its going ot freeze then you want more antifreeze than water about 70/30 mix
in summer time when its hot alot then you want more water than coolant
antifreeze=coolant in which is ethylene glycol
water cools alot better than antifreeze
water is what does the cooling
good luck

50-50 is not the correct answer. Look on the container it will tell you how much to add to your raditior for a specific temperature factor. Drain and flush your system first then add new Antif. as suggested above.

i own a repair shop, and strait anti freeze will not let the car warm up as good as it needs to,and it will also make your heater not put out as good of a heat it supposed to be 50/50 for a reason that's why it needs to be mixed,if you have it strait, you wont get as good of heat, and you,ll notice it also,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
