My fiance and I are getting married next August..Were wanting to start trying for a baby right afterward..how soon before should I stop the pill?

We already have a 4 year old daughter, so we dont really "need the time to bond as husband and wife". Weve talked about this, and we want to start trying right away.

If I remember correctly my Dr. told me when I first started taking them 3 months if I wanted to conceive.

You should in all accounts be able to get pregnant the moment you stop taking the pills...this is not always the case some folks try for months even years before they conceive. I think my Dr told me 3 months to make sure they were completely out of my system.

Good Luck and Best Wishes on your upcoming Wedding

I was in the same situation. We already have 2 older children....we got married in October and after some contemplating, I decided to stop the pill in September. Still not pregnant yet. The down part was that my period was late in October and I ended up being on it at my wedding. Overall though Im glad I stopped the pill ASAP because we're STILL trying to conceive. I guess I was naive in thinking that we would get pregnant right away. Its all up to you, but if youre sure you want another child, I would stop now. Good luck and congrats :)

You should not be having sex before you're married, period. It doesn't matter whether he's your fiance or not. Get a clue.

And as usual, others have provided pseudo-sane answers for something that requires a truthful response such as I've given.

Liberalism is the plague of the 21st century.

You already have a 4 year old daughter? Then I don't know what to say. I think it's time for me to retire from Yahoo Answers if almost every single person has a weird and bizarre story like this. What ever happened to the normal world?

Look, just go ahead and follow the other people's advice - they're great for you. I'm out of here.

Stop the pills in August. You can get pregnant once you have your next cycle. Even if you stopped them sooner there is no guarantee you will get pregnant right away. This way you are married, and you are still able to go on with your plans.

I would say 6 months before you want to start trying. It can normally take atleast that long for your body to get regulated and back to normal. Just be sure you use other forms of protection after stopping the pill unless you are ok with having an "oops".

Good luck and congrats.

I wouldn't suggest having a baby immediately after you get married. You need the time to bond with your husband first and get settled into the marriage before trying to have a child.

Depends. If you're not sexually active, or if you can commit to reducing the amount of sex you have and being careful to use condoms and such, you can go off it now and have it well out of our system by August.

But, you can wait until the month of, many women get pregnant right after BC, while others take months and months to regulate after it.

Finish the month allow your period to come as it usually does, then just don't renew for the following month. That way your body doesn't go out of whack by stopping in the middle of the cycle. Good Luck!

My OB told me that you are more likely to conceive your first month off the pill because you are more likely to ovulate that month. Some women who are having trouble conceiving or ovulating are put on the pill for one month. I know many women who got pregnant their first month off the pill. Therefore, my suggestion would be to stop taking it right after your wedding. Congratulations on your wedding and best wishes for extending your family.

Wait for one year after you get married. Then get off of the pill.
