Mr Palin was a good comic and actor; as a travel documentary maker and writer, not so much. I find his documentaries condescending to the people and cultures he's talking about, which is never a good thing. And some of them were aware of it! He should stay with what he knows. I don't think I'll bother with his diaries, he's too up himself.

Unless you know someone well,or have common interests , details about another person are not of much interest. It doesn`t matter whether they are a day to day life routine record, or a travelogue, it is still the `doings` and `happenings` of someone else, and rarely contains any thrills or spectacular incidents So I `m sorry to say that, although I started to read this, I did not finish it I lost interest..
